Sam W. Hotchkiss
Sam W. Hotchkiss is a partner at Hotchkiss & Hur. He is currently licensed to practice law in California and Washington, as well as before the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California.
Mr. Hotchkiss represents individuals and businesses in a wide array of construction and construction defect matters. He has extensive experience preparing, interpreting, negotiating and litigating construction related contracts on behalf of general contractors, subcontractors, and material suppliers, and has successfully represented material suppliers and contractors in the enforcement (and defense) of mechanic’s liens and stop notices.
Mr. Hotchkiss has also advised and litigated extensively cases involving Commercial General Liability insurance policies, including evaluation of insurer defense and indemnity obligations, exposure to bad faith, contribution, equitable indemnity, subrogation, additional insured disputes, OCIP/wrap policy analysis, multi-carrier disputes (involving both primary and excess carriers), and complex construction defect analysis.
Sam W. Hotchkiss was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and attended high school and college in Seattle, Washington. He is an avid fly fisherman and mountaineer, and played competitive ice hockey for 18 years, and led teams to regional and national tournaments as a team captain.
